| 'Sea Essay of Hamble' lying in Vlissigen, Holland on Sunday |
| On our way out of the Vlissigen lock |
| Brian H on the stern line |
| This chap couldn't fit in normally so he came in at right angles! |
| At sea on our way overnight to Boulogne |
| Very busy waters around Zeebrugge - the screen shows 47 large ships within 10 miles of us but there were 89 in the full list |
| Brian A outside Oostende |
| And then we came across this collection of mysterious objects - no idea what they were but there must have been more than 50 of them. |
| Asim on the helm |
| Coming into Boulougne the next morning - a very calm passage |
| Enter the harbour and sail up to ... |
| ... the white mark on the wall and then a straight course into the inner harbour. |
| Next day (Wed) off to Dieppe |
| Another very calm day |
| Breakfast |
| Hitching a lift |
| Got the cruising chute up first time |
| Lines for the cruising chute |
| Yes - and he shat on the spray hood! |
| Coming into Dieppe |
| Pushed out of the way for this dredger |
| On the way to Fécamp |
| Lovely French coast - must be worth doing a drive along our route |
| A bit of wind at last |
| Into Fécamp where they make Benedictine - had a couple at the Restaurant L'escalier - excellent meal and service |
| Nice reflections |
| Wednesday - off to Honfleur |
| Fascinating chalk structures along the cost |
| Past the Antifer harbour north of Le Harvre - 2 mile jetty used for petro carbons |
| Coming up to Le Harvre and decided to pop in for fuel as there isn't any at Honfleur |
| That's one way to fill up - the fuel depot is tucked away in a corner where we touched the bottom an hour before LW - got away quickly! |
| Then out to keep clear of the shallows to the south of Le Harvre |
| ... and then up the Seine to towards Honfleur which is on the right before the motorway suspension bridge |
| Lock doors closing behind us |
| Without meaning to I beat these yachts out of the lock which didn't please them |
| - something about lock etiquette but I haven't read up on that yet! |
| Then into beautiful Honfleur harbour - even better in real life |
| Opens on the half hour - but not all of them |
| Thursday morning - in time for ... |
| ... breakfast |
| A nice Pilot Saloon 47 |
| Last meal in France |
| Shipping outside Le Harvre at the start of the crossing back to the UK |
| Then a force 7 gale back overnight to Portsmouth - 18 hours |
| It eased off a bit by the morning or maybe we were getting used to it |
| Landfall at Gosport, followed by a brisk sail up to the Mercury Marina at Hamble for a final dinner |
