Quick visit to apartment
Looking out of the window and what did I see?
The fantastic Millau Viaduct - one of the projects from the
BBC's Megastructures series. It's a thing of beauty and it's taken hours off the journey to the South of France.
... and then we drove up from Perpignan to see it.
It's too big to get a shot of it from the road we were on.
Then down to Albi ...
... where we went from one massive bridge to one that's five hundred years old, which was just as important in its time.
Albi also has a cathedral
That's me at the base.
Hundreds of years after the Cathedral was built the French added this bit of unharmonious icing cake. Anywhere else it would be impressive.
This inside seemed much, much smaller considering the size of the exterior.
In the outside garden I spotted ...
... some interesting brickwork making a square tower into a round one.
The town council had decided to relay the floor under the old market hall.
Prices of bread.
Tons of restaurants in Albi.
We chose Le Terroir at 11, rue Toulouse Lautrec - excellent formule at 27€ and great 'desserts'.
On to Castelnaudary (home of cassoulet) where it rained.
It may have been wet but
we didn't expect to see this on the road - both sides of it.
A bit blowy at l'appartement.
So we went to Colliour which is always nice.
Back home all too soon.
